Coldwater fisheries even in the hot of summer...
The building of Wolf Creek Dam created a change in the water temperatures of the lower Cumberland River. The waters that come into the river are pulled from deep under the surface of Lake Cumberland. Too cool for a swim for us... but trout thrive in this cold tailwater.

Smallmouth bass aren't the only ones that like to swim in our lake waters. Dale Hollow is a draw for boaters, divers, and cruisers of all makes and shapes.

Pool elevations and temperature changes for Dale Hollow Lake:
The ordinary summer pool/high water mark is 651' above mean sea level. The highest recorded water mark for the lake is 659' msl. During the fall drawdown, the lake elevation has reached a low of 632' msl. The average surface water temperature is 64°. The warmest recorded temperature of 83° happened during June and the coolest temperature of 43° during January.
